As part of a two-school school addition/renovation program that realigned the grades in Cohasset, we programmed and implemented multi-year renovation and addition projects at the 1950’s Deer Hill Elementary School and the Cohasset Middle-High School. Sixth grade was pulled out of Deer Hill and moved to the Middle-High school. Third grade was pulled out of the adjacent Osgood Elementary School and added to Deer Hill. We constructed a new media center, computer lab, art studio, and gymatorium on the south end of Deer Hill and extended the new addition along the front of the 1950’s school, all the way to the north end by providing a new entry and administrative suite, and extending the existing cafeteria out proud of its former exterior wall. The existing undersized gymnasium was converted into two music rooms. The existing school was gut renovated and reconfigured to bring all educational spaces and building systems into conformance with modern standards. These two Cohasset projects occurred simultaneously within occupied school buildings over two school years, with two different contractors and Mr. Raymond managing both.
