Acting upon the analysis and recommendations contained in Gene Raymond’s Grade 3 – 12 master plan study, the Town of Cohasset approved a two-school addition/renovation program that realigned the grade levels in Cohasset and resulted in tow multi-year renovation and addition projects at the Deer Hill Elementary School and Cohasset Middle-High School. Sixth Grade was pulled out of Deer Hill and extended the new construction all the way across the front of the non-descript 1950’s facade by adding a new entry and administrative suite, and extending the existing cafeteria, hence giving the school an entirely new front facade. At the middle-High School, we inserted a new shared “core facilities” wing between what became the “middle” and “High” school wings, providing needed segregation between the middle and high school students. Both existing schools were gut renovated and reconfigured to bring all educational spaces and building systems into conformance with code and 21st century educational standards. These projects were built simultaneously within occupied school buildings over two full shcool years, using two different contractors, with Mr. Raymond managing both.
